I'm writing to ask you to co-sponsor and support S. Res. 578, introduced by Senators Menendez and Rubio in support of childhood vaccines and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. This resolution, which is the companion to H. Res. 688, introduced by Reps. McCollum and Reichert, affirms US support for Gavi and its mission to end preventable childhood deaths. It is a sad fact that diarrhea and pneumonia (both of which are vaccine-preventable) kill more kids than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Millions of children will die from completely preventable deaths. You have the power to help turn this fact into fiction. Gavi has announced a bold new plan to immunize an additional 300 million children against potentially fatal diseases over the next five years, which will save as many as 6 million lives. As your constituent, I believe vaccines are an investment worth making and I ask you to support the Gavi resolution.
