Overview

The G8 met at Camp David in May and formed something called the New Alliance to lift 50 million people out of poverty through long-term agriculture plans. This was an important step forward for the first three countries named in the G8's plans.

But now it's time to deliver for more countries— including 6 in the Sahel region of Africa— that stand ready to lift themselves out of poverty. This means a total of 15 countries by the end of the year. And next year, the G8 should double that number, reaching the full 30 countries that are currently ready to go.
