The Sunflower (sunyashniki in Ukrainian) has becomes a worldwide symbol of solidarity and peace amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We want every Ukrainian to know that we stand with them. We want everyone in Ireland to buy Sow Now sunflower seeds, plant them and help us create a huge nationwide display of sunflowers this summer while raising funds for the Irish Redcross Ukraine Appeal.

Simple as that.

Grow a sunflower for Ukraine is a call-to-action for Irish citizens to unite in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and raise vital funds for the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis appeal, while also contributing to Ireland’s national biodiversity goals.

It’s so important to support & raise this money for the Ukrainian people devastated by this current conflict. Every cent raised goes directly to the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Raising funds with Sunflower Seeds

For the months of April, May and June. The Ukrainian Women and Men of the Sow Now Initiative with the support of Irish friends will produce individual and corporate packs of sunflower seeds and then donate all moneys raised from every pack of sunflower seeds to the Irish Red Cross. The Irish Red Cross will use the money in Ukraine to assist with rescue of trapped Ukrainians and support health facilities with medicines and equipment, and support families with food and hygiene items.

The intensification and spread of the conflict risk a scale of death and destruction that are frightening to contemplate, given the immense military capacities involved.” — Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Countless lives in Ukraine are being torn apart by violence and insecurity. Displacement, trauma, and separation from loved ones, will have devastating consequences on the people of Ukraine. Please help today if you can.

Tetiana's story

I was born in the small city of Stryi in western Ukraine. I lived my whole life in Ukraine and have never travelled anywhere before.

We were all shocked and perplexed by the scale of disaster that broke on the dawn of 24/02/22 - the day when Russia started the invasion of my country, killing civilians, murdering innocent women and children.

I left our homeland without knowing where we were going - into nowhere with my three daughters, Sophia 16, Marta 15 and Yana 5. Heartbroken, I left my childhood sweetheart, my husband, my mother and father and sister, nephews and nieces and so so many friends. A friend bought us airline tickets from Prague to Ireland, knowing no one in this country and hoping for God only.
