With the National Assembly due to consider an independent panel's report on whether there is prima facie evidence that President Cyril Ramaphosa should be impeached over Phala Phala, his spokesperson insisted the president did nothing wrong and wants all the investigations into the matter to be resolved speedily.

The independent panel, appointed by National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, had to submit its report, which should include its findings and recommendations, to Mapisa-Nqakula on Thursday.

However, at the eleventh hour, Mapisa-Nqakula, extended their deadline to 30 November. This happened after the chairperson of the panel, former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, wrote to Mapisa-Nqakula, indicating that the panel, based on its assessment of the amount of ground still to be covered and the available resources, determined that they would be able to complete it by 30 November.
