28th Session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters

The 28th session of the Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters will address a diverse agenda with the aim of delivering on its programme of work for the 2021-2025 period. The Committee will address taxing the digitalized and globalized economy, environmental taxes, extractive industries taxes, health taxes, wealth taxes, transfer pricing, and tax treaties, among other topics.

The UN Tax Committee comprises 25 members, nominated by governments and selected by the UN Secretary-General, who act in an expert capacity. The Committee aims to strengthen international cooperation on domestic and international tax matters, with a focus on needs and capacities of developing countries. The Committee generates guidance for governments, tax administrators, and taxpayers to strengthen tax systems for sustainable development.

The session will be held back-to-back with the annual UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Special Meeting on International Cooperation in Tax Matters. The ECOSOC meeting aims to identify effective approaches to fiscal policies for inclusive, sustainable development and to support a fair, inclusive, and effective international tax system.
