Act now to #EndEpidemics: Email your MP
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has saved 50 million lives and halved the combined death rate from these diseases in countries where it invests since its creation in 2002. But COVID-19 has thrown this progress off track.
This month, France, South Africa, Japan, Germany, Spain, the US and others made a strong investment in the Global Fund but the UK failed to pledge anything. The UK will now need to make an important decision on whether we'll continue our leadership in Global Health by standing with our international partners. If we invest 30% more than we did three years ago, we could help save 20 million lives by 2026.
The choice is stark: either we increase funding for the three diseases or we abandon our target of defeating them by 2030.
Will you write to your MP now demanding the UK steps up to help the Global Fund meet its target this year to save lives and get rid of these diseases for good?
