Ask your MP to protect refugees and UK Aid

ONE’s new report shows the UK government is wasting as much as £1 billion on inefficient handling of asylum seekers in the UK*. What’s more, instead of allocating a separate budget to support them like other countries, in 2022 it spent 29% of our international development budget inside the UK.

It is vital that we improve welfare for refugees and asylum seekers coming to the UK, but current Home Office policies are creating a lose-lose situation. This is bad for refugees, bad for people in low and middle income countries, and bad for the long-term security and prosperity of the UK.

We need your help to get this front and centre on the Government’s agenda. Together we can improve the asylum system and make this spending additional to the international development budget.

In the past, we’ve seen that asking MPs to contact the UK government has been effective in putting the pressure on from all sides and has made a difference. Will you contact your MP today asking them to get a grip on out of control Home Office spending?

We have pre-written an email for you but please edit the text below to make it more impactful.
