Stop the cuts to UK aid
The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced that the government plans to cut the UK aid budget by 30%, that’s about £4 billion. This move will hit some of the world’s poorest communities the hardest and could impact global efforts to roll out a COVID-19 vaccine to everyone.
We need to act to oppose these cuts, and your MP can help. By emailing your MP you can ask them to voice their support for UK aid and to oppose these cuts in parliament. We have prepared an email below, which you can send to your local MP.
Please edit the text below as a personal message is more impactful and shows your MP you really care about this issue. You may want to consider adding one of the following points in your own words:
- Talk about why UK aid matters to you. Show your passion for girls’ education, fighting extreme poverty or tackling COVID-19 everywhere.
- Use stories or your own experience of seeing UK aid in action. Talk about any volunteering, donations or support you give any organisations.
- Refer to previous correspondence you’ve received from your MP on this topic, where they may have stated support for maintaining UK Aid spending.
