Add your name: our pledge to take action on HIV/AIDS
The COVID-19 pandemic has set back the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria and threatens to disrupt a decade of progress.
Over the last decade, the global response to AIDS is largely viewed as a hard-won success story, but HIV/AIDS is still a crisis. In 2020, there were almost 40 million people living with HIV/AIDS, 1.5 million new infections, and over one half-million AIDS-related deaths.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made this crisis even more apparent, especially for vulnerable populations. According to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria, testing for HIV fell by 22% in 2020. For the first time in the Global Fund’s history, key programmatic results for HIV, TB and malaria have declined due to the impact of COVID-19.
But, you can act to ensure crucial progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS is maintained. In 2022, one of the world's most important global AIDS programs, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, will face a critical funding moment and ONE will be activating to ensure that US leaders understand the importance of maintaining funding to these lifesaving programs.
Will you sign our activist pledge and commit to take 1 action a month to join the fight against HIV/AIDS?
Over the next year we'll be in contact with opportunities to sign petitions, send letters to elected officials, and engage on social media to ensure the fight against HIV/AIDS is not slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic!
