STOP Boris Johnson from scrapping DFID!

The Prime Minister has announced that he plans to scrap the Department for International Development (DFID), to merge it with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

DFID ensures UK aid reaches the poorest people in some of the hardest to reach places — and it does so effectively and transparently, helping position the UK as a global leader. Losing an independent DFID, will be disastrous for those struggling to survive poverty, climate change and tackle the effects of the global covid-19 pandemic.

UK Aid should be focused on alleviating poverty, not politics. Add your name to this urgent petition, asking the Prime Minister to protect DFID.

Dear Prime Minister Johnson,

Through DFID, UK aid helps the poorest people, in some of the world’s hardest to reach places. Without a dedicated department and a Secretary of State leading our development work, we risk backtracking on the incredible progress we’ve made in ending extreme poverty and fighting preventable diseases.

We are calling on you to protect DFID and keep it as an independent department.
