How much do you know about HIV/AIDS?

In the 1990s, there was a significant increase in the number of people infected with HIV and dying of AIDS. From 1995 to 1999, over three million people were infected with HIV every year. The number of AIDS-related deaths peaked in 2004 and 2005 - in both years, almost two million people died.

Since then, the number of AIDS-related deaths has dropped by 64%, due to initiatives like the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. However, progress has slowed recently largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 1.5 million people became newly infected with HIV in 2020 alone.
