I am writing today to urge you to assert Congress’s essential role in advancing effective and innovative foreign assistance.

In particular, I would like you to continue funding high-impact programs like: the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR); Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the President's Malaria Initiative; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; the Millennium Challenge Corporation; President's Malaria Initiative; the Development Finance Corporation; and the International Development Association. These proven investments save millions of lives, build stable partners, and keep Americans safer.

Right now, longstanding and bipartisan development programs - and the everyday people who benefit from them - are at risk. I support efforts to review and improve the effectiveness and transparency of those programs, but stopping their work undermines the administration’s goals of making the US safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
