I urge you to continue strong U.S. support for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

For the past two decades, PEPFAR has been a beacon of hope for millions of people fighting HIV/AIDS. Through its unparalleled and irreplaceable support, U.S. investment in PEPFAR has helped save over 26 million people and given women, children, and families the opportunity to thrive. But there is still more work to be done. AIDS remains a crisis, claiming almost 2,000 lives per day.

Since its inception in 2003, Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the White House have worked together to advance the global fight to end HIV/AIDS. In fact, leaders of both parties have steadfastly increased funding for PEPFAR because of its accountability, innovation, and proven results.

We must continue to invest in proven programs like PEPFAR that are saving lives, improving economic outcomes, and bringing us closer to an end to HIV/AIDS for good. A lack of U.S. leadership in these efforts risks reversing decades of progress against preventable diseases.
