Every child is born to live. Andy Burnham can help us make that a reality.

Every child is born to live. Andy Burnham can help us make that a reality.

Every year since 1990, more children have survived than the year before. Last year that stopped. A child now dies every six seconds from something we already know how to stop, often because countries spend more on debt repayments than on health and education combined. For children to survive and young people truly thrive, we need Britain's G20 presidency to agree action on debt and fix a financial system that fails to invest in young people's futures.

Britain has helped cut child deaths by more than half over 25 years. That's the kind of progress that's possible when we choose to act. Andy Burnham has promised a mission-led government for people left behind by broken systems. That mission shouldn't stop at Britain's borders.

Every child is born to live. Get this right, and children don't just survive, they thrive, growing into adults who build stronger futures for themselves and their countries. That's good for all of us.

Dear Prime Minister: Make children's futures Britain's mission.

You've promised to rewire Britain and back the places left behind. In 2027, Britain hosts the G20. That's your chance to make that same mission global.

Appoint an international envoy for children and young people. Task them with ensuring the whole of the UK's approach to international cooperation, including Britain's G20, is geared to ensure children survive and young people thrive.

Every child is born to live. Make this the chapter where Britain proves it.
